FCA has recently revealed its five-year plan which majorly focuses on its four brands including Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Ram, and Jeep. All these marques will bring some exciting models by 2022 for global markets. With Sergio Marchionne stepping down soon and his successor readying to grab the slot, we can expect product strategy changes for FCA in the future. The automaker has big plans for the UVs (Utility Vehicles) in the next five years. The head of the brand, Mike Manley, and higher management are focusing on two new models that will be equipped with all-wheel-drive traction functionality and a grand customizable interior along the lines of an SUV that can be configured according to user’s preference. Labeled as urban drives, these ultra-cool jeep models, one the size of a Cherokee and the other as large as the Renegade will have low roofline and dynamics of a car. Other Jeep models in the pipeline include Scrambler, three-row Grand Cherokee, an all-new model smaller than the Renegade, Deserthack model following the footsteps of Trailhawk, Trackhawk, and some PHEV models.
Another voguish vehicle up for release is the RAM Rebel TRX, which was revealed in concept form. The Raptor-fighting TRX that was displayed at the Texas State Fair is all ready for production. Seeing its close competitor, the Ford Raptor, RAM found that this pickup truck is highly popular amongst youngsters. This provides a great market opportunity for the automaker to unleash the Rebel TRX that can bring in a heavy revenue stream. The TRX will be a part of the Ram 1500 lineup. Reports suggest there might be a basic version featuring 520 hp and a high-end version housing a 707-hp Hellcat V-8. Other models under production include the midsize Ram pickup and the Ram Heavy Duty.
With a mission to step up the sales of Alfa Romeo, four new models of the Italian brand are in the making, two new SUV, and two sports cars. The Alfa Romeo 8C sports car will house a twin-turbo engine driving the rear wheels. It will be quick enough to reach 60 mph in under 3 seconds. The Alfa Romeo GTV is a four-passenger coupe borrowing its chassis and powertrain from the Giulia sedan. This one too will be a powerful car featuring a hybrid engine generating 600 horsepower. There will also be a latest front-wheel-drive Giulietta hatch for the European market.
FCA plans on producing an entire slew of new models to renew the famous Maserati lineup by 2022. Designers have updated Ghibli sedan and revamped Levante SUV . The coupe and convertible models of the Alfieri, based on the Giorgio platform will take over the GranTurismo coupe and GranCabrio convertible. Other models in the pipeline include a new Stelvio-sized SUV, BEV models for Quattroporte, Levante and Alfieri convertible and coupe versions. These new models will be powered by 3 motors and an all-wheel-drive configuration.
