Tesla Model X and Model S Now Available in the UAE

A few days back, Tesla announced to foray into the UAE auto market and now the automaker has started taking orders for the all-electric Tesla Model X SUV and Tesla Model S sedan. Musk termed the UAE a “beacon” seeing the country’s stance on reducing carbon emissions by generating more renewable energy. Tesla would be investing tens of millions of dollars to mark its entry in the first GCC country.

Customers who would like to book an all-electric drive must visit the official Tesla Design Studio website, customize their Tesla Model X and Model S and get the cars delivered by summer.

The price of the Model S starts at AED 275,000, while the Model X costs AED 344,000. The speed enthusiasts can opt for the Model S P100D, which carries a price tag of AED 544,000 and is capable of achieving 100 km/h mark in just 2.7 seconds. There is a budget friendly option as well in the form of Model 3 hatchback, which can be reserved for AED 4,000. The starting price is approximately AED 130,000.

The Tesla Model S comes equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack and offers a range of up to 408 km, while the family-friendly Tesla Model X boasts 557 km range and features a standard all-wheel drive system. The driving range of Model S P100D is around 613 km. Tesla claims owners can save AED 9,000 cash over 5 years of their use of Model S.

In addition to the Tesla UAE store and service centers in Dubai (will be completed by summer) and Abu Dhabi (tentative completion sometime in 2018), Tesla has also installed two supercharging facilities; one at the end of Jebel Ali exit of Shaikh Zayed Road and other in Masdar city enabling Tesla owners to charge their vehicles within a few minutes. Moreover, the automaker plans to add 50 new destination charging locations across the UAE by the end of this year. The country already has 26 destination charging stations, which would add to the convenience of Tesla owners. For long distance travelers across the country, Tesla has plans to install five more Supercharging stations by the end of 2017.

The Model X and the Model S most likely will be delivered to the customers this summer. Do not worry about the battery issues in extreme heat, as Tesla batteries were tested at 67 Celsius and vehicles were driven in the vigorous conditions of Death Valley.

2017 Mercedes-Benz V-Class

The newly designed 2017 Mercedes-Benz V Class was launched in the UAE last year packing some amazing new features as well as design updates.

It is available in three trim levels namely V 250, AvantGarde and Exclusive. The base model is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbo engine, which delivers 211 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The 2017 V-Class also offers a new agility select function, which lets the driver to choose from four driving modes including economical, comfortable, sporty and manual.

It also boasts high-end safety features such as crosswind assist, attention assist and active parking assist. The optional safety facilities include a 360 degree camera, distronic plus adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot alert and adaptive prevention assist. The new V-Class has also received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

Mercedes also added new luxurious interior features encompassing a thermotronic climate control, new 4-way powered lumbar support seats with active seat ventilation and enhanced interior lighting.

The price of the base 2017 Mercedes-Benz V-Class starts at AED 184,000. The price of the Avantgrade and Exclusive stands at AED 220,000 and AED 275,000.

2017 Mazda CX-5

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 made its official debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Although it looks quite similar to the outgoing model, which received a facelift last year, the automaker states it’s a completely redesigned crossover SUV.

It is available in two engine options i.e. the 2.0L SKYACTIV unit delivering 155 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque and the 2.5L DOHC SKYACTIV engine rendering 185 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a 2WD and an all-wheel drive model.

On the inside, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 offers an array of latest interior features including a push button start system, keyless entry, AUX support, 4-speaker audio system and high quality fabric seats.

It also boasts advanced safety facilities such as dynamic stability control, front and side curtain airbags, immobilizer, electric brakes and traction control.

The price of the standard 2017 Mazda CX-5 starts at AED 87,750.

2017 Dodge Neon

The Dodge Neon 2017 was originally launched with Fiat Tipo nameplate. It was also displayed at the last Dubai Motor Show with ‘Tipo’ name tag. It made a comeback to Middle East in September 2016 and is available in three versions namely SE, SXT and SXT Plus.

Under the hood, the 2017 Neon carries a 1.6L petrol engine that produces 110 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. Each trim carries the same powertrain, but differs in terms of interior features and exterior elements.

The Neon 2017 boasts electric power steering; heated, electrically adjustable door mirrors; trip computer; remote control door unlock/lock function and leather wrapped steering wheel. The SXT and SXT plus trims also come with automatic air conditioning, parking sensors, split folding seats and TFT instrument display.

Furthermore, the 2017 Dodge Neon extends advanced safety features including ABS with EBD, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, airbags, electronic roll-over mitigation, electronic stability program and more.

The base trim starts at AED 58,000, the SXT model costs AED 65,000, whereas the range topping SXT Plus grade carries a price tag of AED 68,000.

2017 Renault Koleos

The 2017 Renault Koleos was first revealed at the Beijing Auto Show. It was inaugurated here by AW Rostamani Group along with the exclusive Renault dealership on October 21st, 2016.

The new 2017 Renault Koleos boasts a muscular and upgraded design with sharp character lines that complement the overall sturdy nature of the SUV. It features a new All-Mode 4×4-I technology that lets the driver switch between 2WD and 4WD Auto configuration. Moreover, the 4×4 technology also includes an innovative 4WD lock mode that ensures great stability on rough landscapes.

With a wheelbase of 2,705 mm, the all-new 2017 Renault Koleos is one of the longest SUVs in the market. On the inside, it extends a range of new technological updates including Bluetooth connectivity, digital air conditioning system, R-Link 2 tablet and an integrated 13-speaker BOSE surround system. Moreover, the 2017 Renault Koleos also boasts advanced safety features such as blind spot warning, front fog lamps, ESP, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring, set of airbags, ISOFIX and automatic parking brake.

The 2017 Koleos is powered by a 2.5-liter four cylinder engine, mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that creates 170 horsepower. This power allows the Koleos to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 185 km/h.

The price of the base model starts at AED 74,900.

2017 Nissan Patrol Gannas

Unveiled in October, 2016, the 2017 Nissan Patrol Gannas is an exclusive edition of the Nissan Patrol in the UAE. It was revealed at Abu Dhabi’s Hyatt Capital Gate by Al Masaood Automobiles (AMA), the exclusive distributor of Nissan vehicles in the UAE.

The 2017 Nissan Patrol Gannas edition shares some of its components including underbody skid plates and wheels with the Nissan Patrol Desert Edition, which was revealed at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show. However, it has an enhanced suspension system and a higher ground clearance. It is also 70 kilograms heavier than the standard Nissan Patrol.

Furthermore, the Patrol Gannas edition features ARB BP51 suspension system, an on-board air compressor, impressive Hutchinson double 18″ rims, a navigation and off-road map system, ABS disconnect switch, roof rails and  a flagpole.

It is powered by a 5.6L V8 engine paired with an automatic gearbox. The powertrain delivers 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque.

The 2017 Nissan Patrol Gannas edition is available at Nissan Abu Dhabi dealership carrying a price tag of AED 260,000.

2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio

The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the first SUV by Alfa Romeo, which was revealed at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. It will be based on the same platform as Giulia Sedan, and its range topping variant will rival with the likes of BMW X3 M, Jaguar F-Pace SVR, Audi SQ5 and Mercedes-AMG GLC63.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifolgio carries a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine producing 505 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission system enabling it to reach 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. The top speed is limited to 285 km/h. Additionally, the Stelvio Ti trim is equipped with a 2.0L l4 intercooled turbo engine generating 280 horsepower and 414 Nm of torque.

The interior boasts impressive technologies including an HD 8.8-inch wide infotainment display and advanced safety features such as Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control and more.

The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is expected to arrive in the UAE later this year or sometime in 2018. The pricing details have not been revealed yet.

2017 Bentley Continental Supersports

The 2017 Bentley Continental Supersports is the fastest and the most powerful vehicle ever built by the automaker. It was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

The Bentley Continental Supersports is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W-12 engine, which churns out 700 horsepower and 1,106 Nm of torque. Bentley claims it can go from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, while the top speed is capped at 336 km/h. The body features carbon fiber elements including a large carbon fiber rear spoiler, which not only adds to the sporty persona of the car, but also improves the aerodynamics.

On the inside, the 2017 Continental Supersports boasts a luxurious interior with Alcantara seats featuring a unique diamond quilted pattern, Alcantara headlining, sport pedals and an exclusive sport steering wheel.

Bentley has not announced the pricing details for the GCC markets, but we can expect it to cost around AED 1.2 million. It will most likely arrive later this year or sometime in 2018.

2017 Skoda Kodiaq

The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq SUV made its debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show and is now up for sale in the international markets. It is available in five and seven seat configurations, and competes with the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Nissan X-Trail.

The standard Skoda Kodiaq carries a 1.4L turbo-engine with 123 horsepower mated to a six-speed manual transmission system. The standard features include LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, an infotainment system with Smartlink technology, keyless entry system and more.

In terms of size, the 2017 Skoda Kodiaq is longer than most of its rivals, which means it offers more interior space. The overall weight of the SUV stands at 1,452 kg.

The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to officially launch in the UAE this summer. However, we do not know the pricing details yet.

2018 Dodge Durango SRT

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT has been the talk of the town owing to its spectacular design and powerful engine. It was unveiled at that 2017 Chicago Auto Show and is dubbed as “the most powerful three-row SUV”.

The new 2018 Durango SRT is equipped with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine yielding 475 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque. The same powertrain also powers the Dodge Challenger and will allow the Durango SRT to go from 0 to 97 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

In terms of size, the 2018 Durango SRT SUV is longer than its rival Grand Cherokee. It is also more powerful and quicker. It has a towing capability of 3,900kg, whereas the Grand Cherokee SRT can tow up to 3,265kg. Other performance features include Bilstein adaptive suspension system and Six-piston Brembo brake calipers.

The cabin offers new technologies encompassing a digital instrument cluster, SRT sports steering wheel, an 8.4-inch UConnect infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality.

The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is set to launch in the market during the fourth quarter of 2017. The pricing details have not been announced yet. We can expect it to arrive in the UAE sometime in 2018.

2017 Jeep Compass

The 2017 Jeep Compass was revealed in November last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It rides on the stretched version of the same platform being used by Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500x.

The 2017 Compass will be available in four trim levels namely Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. It will be powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower. The automaker promises that it would deliver 30 mpg (12.8 km/L) fuel economy. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission system. The Trailhawk trim will feature an increased ride height and an enhanced all-wheel drive setup for better off-road performance.

The new Compass will also encompass the latest UConnect infotainment system with smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also include modern safety features such as forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alert and a rear-view camera.

The UAE regional launch is expected to take place by the end of this year.
